"Broad-spectrum" means you’re covered from both UVA and UVB rays.
SPF only measures protection from UVB - the rays that burn. But UVA rays are sneaky: they’re longer, lower-energy, and go deeper, causing more long-term damage like aging and pigmentation. If you’re spending time outdoors, sweating it out, or just want full skin protection, always look for broad-spectrum on the label. It’s your cue that the sunscreen protects you from both UVA and UVB. -
No sunscreen is completely waterproof.
What you want to look for is water resistance. That means the SPF stays effective while you sweat, swim, or surf, usually up to 4 hours, depending on the label. Just remember to reapply if you're towel-drying, out for more than 2 hours, or doing the hard yards in the sun.
-
Although our sunscreen has been tested for 4-hour water resistance, it’s still advised that you reapply sunscreen every 2 hours or more often when swimming, toweling or sweating. This advice is required by the TGA because the sun's UV rays break down the active sunscreen ingredients over time, diminishing its ability to block harmful radiation from the sun.
-
For an average adult, it is recommended to apply 1 teaspoon or 5mL of sunscreen for each area of the body (leg, arm, front, back and face, including neck). So, for full body application, that equates to 35mL of sunscreen, reapplied every 2 hours. Where possible, it’s recommended to avoid prolonged sun exposure and wear protective clothing, such as arm sleeves, a hat, and protective eyewear.

Chemical (organic) and physical (inorganic) sunscreens both protect your skin from UV rays, but they do it in slightly different ways. Both categories of filters absorb UV and convert it into heat, while physical filters like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide also reflect and scatter a small amount of UV.
At Sun Motion, we use a hybrid approach, combining advanced organic filters with titanium dioxide. Why? Because it delivers broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection, a lightweight texture, and high performance that holds up under sweat, sun, and movement. It’s the best of both worlds, built for active skin in real-world conditions.

Yes. Sun Motion sunscreens are reef-conscious and free from oxybenzone and octinoxate, ingredients banned in places like Hawaii. While some lab studies have shown coral stress at high concentrations of certain sunscreen ingredients, these levels are rarely found in the ocean. The leading causes of coral bleaching are climate change, ocean acidification, and pollution. You can wear Sun Motion with confidence, knowing it’s made for performance and peace of mind.
